My best artwork this semester would probably be the spearing decoy that I made out of clay because I like spearing and it shows who I am. The art work that I would like to redo would probably be the slap box project because I feel like I couldve did a lot better pon it and I couldve used more skill. Something that I learned in the art class would be to maximize my work time to be efficient and get things done on time. One thing I wish I wouldve wish I couldve done would probably work with the spinning wheel to make some clay pots.

For the artist learn new skills post I choose the art technique of mishima art. To do this art technique you first have to have dry clay and then put underglaze on it. Then you fire the clay and put a clear coat of glaze on after that to finish it. The first picture os of a practice tile that I made and carved out lines and the put glaze on the inside of that then fired it. After the relief tile I made a cup and carved lines out of it and let it dry then put black underglaze on the inside of the lines that I carved out then I put a clear coat of glaze on that after it got fired. To reflect on this art technique I learned a new skill in my ceramics art class and I liked this new skill that I learned and I enjoyed working with the mishima art.
In the first photo for this art blog post is spearing decoys made by Jeff Doty. I was inspired by his work in designing spearing decoys and how he makes them unique in his own way. The way that he maked these is out of wood then paints them but I made mine out of clay and painted them by using underglaze. The colors of underglaze that I used were cinnamon, white, intense yellow, and velour black. The way that I am trying to express my art piece is by how I like spearing a lot and when I go spearing I use Jeff Doty´s decoys. I didnt want to paint my clay decoys exactly like how he makes his so I did different but yet similar designs. His decoys are around 4-6 inches long and my decoy is around 3 inches long. The middle two images are the final pictures of my decoy and last last image is the sketch that I drew to plan out how I wanted my decoy to look.
I completed this mutiples/set of two clay bowls and one clay plate by envisioning on how I wanted to make them look. By envisioning them I put one layer of a color of glaze down and then let that dry and then I splashed a different color of glaze over that. On one of the bowls I used tape to put on the bottom of the bowl and then glazed over that to make lines.
To create my relief tile I first sketched out what I wanted to put on my relief tile. After that I rolled out my clay and started carving away pieces to create my relief tile.
When I created my coil vessel I wanted it to stand out from eveybody elses. To do that I started out with rolling my clay into a small roll and then stacking it onto one another. After is got so high I started to smooth out the gap between the different layers but still left some texture so you could see the different layers. At the top of the vessel I started to make it open up and widen out more, To do this I let my clay dry a little bit and then slowly formed the top of the vessel.
To create my slab box I rolled out some clay and cut the clay into smaller rectangles. Then I took my texture roller and roller over the rectangles to add texture to the sides of the box. After that I put the sides together to make a box and then cut the top of to make the lid. Overall I think this was one of my favorite projects to do because it reminds me of how to put a house or small shack together by putting the sides together.
To complete my texture roller I first drew a box on a piece of paper and drew the design that I wanted on my texture roller. Then I drew that on my pvc pipe and then used a hot glue gun so my design would show on the clay. The second picture that I have shown is when I rolled the roller on the clay to see the design that I have created.
I dont have a picture of my ceramic sphere because I forgot to get one but to make this project rolled out some clay and then cut it in half to make two pieces. After that I formed the two pieces into half of a ball to make the inside hallow and then put the two together so make the full sphere. After that dried for a while I carved out some lines to add texture to my sphere.
